MCSWEYN, John "Buck" Robert, passed away peacefully Friday, March 6, 2020. Buck was born on December 4, 1935 to the late James and Mary (Sheltraw) McSweyn in Saginaw, Michigan. On September 26, 1953 he married his wife of 66 years, the former Bernice Crites, and she survives him. Buck worked for Steering Gear for 38 years as a job setter before he retired. He was a life member of the St. Charles Masonic Lodge #313, a life member of the Order of Eastern Star Saginaw Martha Washington Chapter #113, one of the founders of the St. Charles Saints Snowmobile Club and a current member of the Brant Gun Club. Buck loved to fish on the Saginaw Bay with his brother Duke and loved to hunt. Back in his more adventurous days he enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling and ride in his dune buggies. He was an avid Nascar follower, enjoyed working with wood, making end tables among many other things and did quilt work on purses his wife would make.

Along with his wife, Bernie, Buck is survived by his children, Cindy (Chris) McGinnis, Greg (Lisa) McSweyn, Cathy (Mick) Gage and Cheryl (Lester) Mayle; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ann Bellenbaum, Donald “Duke’ McSweyn, Sharon (Don) Walker, Thomas “Skin”(Linda) McSweyn, and many nieces and nephews.  Along with his parents, Buck was predeceased by a brother, Jim McSweyn; sister-in-law, Leota McSweyn and a nephew, Jeff McSweyn.

In honor of Buck’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial with Masonic and Eastern Star services will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. Rev Ray Abbey will officiate.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
