Arthur (Bud) E. Fields, Sr.

FIELDS, Sr., Arthur E. (Bud), age 85 years, passed away at his home Thursday, December 19, 2019.  Bud was born on November 4, 1934 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to the late Ralph and Emily (Moore) Fields.  He graduated from Midland High School, class of 1952.  He went on to marry his sweetheart Mary Lou Lutz on May 5, 1956 in Freeland, Michigan.  He and Mary owned and operated Style Trend Furniture of St. Charles, retiring in 1995.  Bud was past president of the St. Charles Lions Club, St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, and President of the original St. Charles Downtown Development Authority.  He served on the village planning commission, the board of Hope Lutheran Church and the Clara Ruff Scholarship Committee.  Bud served on the latest downtown development authority until retirement and the Community State Bank board of directors for 32 years until he retired.  He was also a charter member of the St. Charles area Jaycees, a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Winter Haven, Florida and a past member of Hope Lutheran Church in St. Charles.  He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven, Florida.


Bud resided in St. Charles most of his life and enjoyed his many friends and neighbors.  He also enjoyed the friendships made at Carefree Country Club of Winter Haven, Florida where he and Mary spent the winter months.  Bud was an avid golfer, animal lover and enjoyed working in his woodshop.  In his earlier years he also enjoyed collecting and restoring the early Ford Mustangs. 


Bud is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lou; his sons Arthur Jr. (Dyanna) Fields and Ronald (Kimberly) Fields; granddaughter, Brittany; step-grandchildren, Nick and Katie; great-grandchildren, Issac, Blair, Abel, Ava and Emma and his best pal Shih Tzu, Buffy.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Emily and Ralph; his admired and respected stepfather, William H. Stokes and beloved daughter, Carol Ann.


Cremation has taken place according to Bud’s wishes and a memorial service is planned for Friday, January 3, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles.  Rev. Ernesto Mariona will officiate.   The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.   Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society, Wounded Warriors, The Humane Society of Saginaw County or a charity of your choice.
