WHITE, Thomas Peter, beloved son, brother and friend, age 71 years, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Tom was born on February 18, 1947 in Seattle, Washington to the late Stewart and Catherine (Stewart) White. Tom served in the US Army for 23 years. He was stationed in Germany, Korea and state side as a military police officer then a recruiter. Tom was then employed by St. Mary’s of Saginaw for 10 years. After that he worked for MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) in Lansing for 9 years where he retired in 2014. He was a past post commander of the St. Charles VFW, served on St. Charles Village Council, volunteered for the Veterans Administration, was a member of the American Legion Post in Montana.
Tom is survived by his wife Cynthia (Frost) White; sons, Steve (Bethany) Powlus and Brandon Powlus; grandsons, Easton and Levi Powlus; a brother, William White and many other special relatives and friends.
Tom married Cindy on April 19, 1994. They renewed their vows on October 7, 2018, which was very important to Tom. His family meant the world to him and he loved to spend time with them. Tom also enjoyed volunteering and serving his community.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m until the time of service. Memorials can be directed to American Legion Children and Youth Fund, Ronald Mcdonald House or Heartland Hospice.
